In order to fulfill its mission, Design Malta has developed the strategic plan below through which a number of goals will be phased-in:

(a) To influence and make sure that design is at the heart of government policies.
(b) To offer free information, advice and debate for all stakeholders - users, buyers, students and practitioners of design.
(c) To direct an awarenness programme for promoting the benefits of good design to Maltese society and business stakeholders.
(d) To direct a programme of design support for Maltese stakeholders.
(e) To direct a programme of design education to help Maltese stakeholders to be innovative, entrepeneurial and competitive.
(f) To provide authoritative design research, knowledge and networking.
(g) To promote artefacts designed in Malta, both here and overseas.
(h) To regulate and establish a code of ethics for design practitioners.
